Tris wakes me up, as he does most mornings, fair play to him
as the response is usually quite aggressive from me. I didn’t go to the gym, I
stayed at home. Went through that list the woman mailed me and sent another 40
e-mails. When Tris got back I was now starving, we went to a Californian Pizza Place. Something
that I do enjoy out here is how nice everyone always is. No matter where you
go, everyone is (almost) over friendly. You never get that back home, and most
of the time if you’re in a shop or restaurant you almost expect to not get eye
contact from your server. Or having to coax a personality out of them. However,
we also for the first time met some unbelievably dumb people today in shops,
some not knowing what stamps were and others saying ‘buy two for $20 or one for $10’ and not intentionally joking. I printed some resumes (CV’s) that I
structured differently to English ones as that is how they do it out here and
we got them printed on nice card, bought envelopes and stamps, and realised I’d
just spent quite a bit more already today. Next on the list was food shopping
(I know, and I promised an interesting day in comparison to yesterday). Another
$80 later and a few more dodgy looks like last time. (They think we are a
couple...or maybe they saw us at that gay bar)? We went home. Tris met his
parents and I cooked dinner and then watched the updated version of ‘The Thing’ which was perfectly average.
Lesson learnt: Some people are thick and others aren’t. You
usually know if someone is thick as they make most social situations awkward
and they’re not that friendly.
