Day 22. A Loose Cannon

I dreamt about Zombie killings and War last night. Why? As today we were going to tick something off the list. What? The gun range! We'd found a few ranges but one in particular stood out. I needed to put my thoughts of shooting the heck out of a paper man on hold. I needed the guns big enough to support such firing capabilities. To the gym. And as ever not much to report there.

So the range! Our only scepticism was the cost and as it turns out, not only was it cheap but the health and safety didn't seem up to my standard. You filled out a form claiming you'd never seek mental help and they threw a gun at you. Without sounding like I am warming up for a "Columbine" I was, as you can tell, excited. We got a 9mm Beretta calibre.

Getting used to the noise takes a few minutes, I was still slightly jumping when hearing something go off so loud and not seeing an array of colours in the sky.  We unloaded rounds into a paper Nazi...in fact he could be anyone you wanted him to be, he could be a she. Either way they ate lead. We went through the first gun steadily. Once we finished we looked at each other. 'New targets'? 'No. New everything'. Unlike the sailing, we were in our element, 'we want a rifle. The largest,  loudest rifle'. The over excitement didn't seem to ruffle any feathers and if the two Brits who hadn’t handed ID over wanted something, they got it. We were advised a Dragunov. For those really interested I've done a film I have never been so proud of. (Edited By Tristam Summers). It was the loudest thing going, people from the other end of the range were coming to look at what we were shooting. It was an experience and surprisingly cheap. About £23 all in.

After such adrenaline where do you go to wind down? Starbucks, a large caffeine fuelled drink to discuss our now lead-lined veins.
Most conversations now ended in 'I will shoot you'. If someone pulled out in front of us, crossed the road or looked in our general direction we now knew our training could kick in. I could take out a target at 20 foot no problem. This is becoming an unhealthy love interest.

We went to a late showing of 'Cabin In The Woods'. The reason we went was the landlady was coming back to stay in here room for a few nights. At the risk of being found out that I'd been sleeping in her room we thought the cinema would shelter us. It was a horror but suprisingly different with an original idea. I think I liked it, I couldn't really make up my mind. It featured Zombies, Werewolves and the usual parade. I know my Dragunov would have taken them out.

Lesson Learnt: The saying 'Guns are bad' isn't completely true.
